A dialogue early into Shah Rukh Khan's blockbuster new release Pathaan warns, "Mausam bigadne wala hai, apni kursi ki peti bandh lijiye (turbulent weather ahead, please fasten your seat belts)." In theatres around the world, however, the weather report is thunderous - seat belts have been gleefully unfastened with clips of fans dancing and cheering going viral. One such is circulating on Twitter and has been shot in a cinema in Paris. In viral footage, fans in the Paris theatre dance along to the song Jhoome Jo Pathaan which plays over the film's end credits. "Fans dance, whistle and scream… difference is that these scenes are not in India but in a cinema hall in Paris," reads the caption.

Pathaan, Shah Rukh Khan's first proper release in four years, opened in over 100 countries on January 24. Paris was already buzzing before the release. An official SRK fan club shared pictures of posters for the film seen around the French capital. "The craze of Pathaan all over the world is humongous. Here are some pictures from Paris, the city of love," read the caption.

Pathaan, directed by Siddharth Anand, stars Shah Rukh Khan in the title role, a formidable RAW agent. His mission (in the impossible vein of Tom Cruise) is to take down terrorist-for-hire Jim, played John Abraham, with the help of an ISI agent played by Deepika Padukone.

Set in Yash Raj Films' Spy Universe, Pathaan features a deadly crossover cameo by Salman Khan who plays Tiger in a series of films in the same universe.

These elements, added up, have helped make Pathaan Bollywood's biggest hit so far, demolishing several box office records. At the end of its first week, Pathaan's worldwide gross was Rs 634 crore per trade analyst Taran Adarsh. The film is not done yet.
