EXCLUSIVE: Urmila Matondkar’s hubby Mohsin shares her b’day plans: We’re not high on throwing birthday parties

Whenever we talk about Urmila Matondkar, the first word that comes to our mind is Rangeela. The actress attained popularity after featuring in the Ram Gopal Varma film and later starred in many hit movies including Judaai and Satya. Today, she celebrates her 47th birthday, so Pinkvilla got in touch with her husband Mohsin Akhtar to know how they are celebrating the big day. Akhtar informs that every year Urmila goes to an old age home and an orphanage to celebrate her birthday but this year the plan had to be slightly altered.

“This year because of Covid we couldn’t go anywhere, so we arranged for a small get together with young kids and elderly people in Vile Parle. In the afternoon, she will be meeting some of her party workers and later in the day she will be doing a Facebook and an Instagram live with her fans. This is the first time that she will be doing this as she recently joined social media. We both believe in helping people and bringing a smile on their face whether it’s her birthday or mine, so we are doing that this year as well. We are not very high on throwing birthday parties,” Akhtar told Pinkvilla.

When asked if there are special dinner plans involving just two of them, he says, “That might happen. But we dedicate our birthdays to these causes. We don’t have kids, so these are our kids. We make sure that on our birthdays we do this.”

In 2018, Akhtar had produced a Marathi film called Madhuri which Urmila had presented. Are there any plans for the duo to collaborate on another project again? “If a good script comes up then we will do it. But right now because of politics we hardly get any time. You never know what happens in the future,” he signs off.
