Nayanthara's 75th film is entitled 'Annapoorani'. The tagline is 'The Goddess of Food'. The comedy-drama was released in theatres in Tamil on December 1 last year. It became a disaster.

The film started streaming on OTT recently. Ever since hundreds of Netizens have taken offense to the scene where Nayanthara's character says that making Biryani after offering Namaz brings a special taste to the dish. Hindu Netizens have described the Tamil film as "Dravidian propaganda" aimed to "manipulate the minds of Hindus, especially Brahmin women". Nayanthara is a Brahmin chef in the film. She takes to cooking non-veg dishes against the wishes of her father.

The news is that an FIR has been filed against the makers of the Kollywood flop because it has allegedly "hurt religious sentiments". A complainant from Mumbai alleged that the film normalizes Love Jihad, which is a conspiracy theory propagated by Hindu and Christian groups.

The complaint adds that 'Annapoorani' misrepresents the Ramayana, as authored by Valmika.
