It was in the early 2000s that actor R Madhavan was declared the national heartthrob thanks to his superhit romantic films such as Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein and Alaipayuthey. The only thing as heartwarming as his onscreen romantic tales is his real-life love story with his wife Sarita Birje. Following several years of dating, the couple got married in 1999. On the occasion of their wedding anniversary (June 6), Madhavan has confessed in a note on social media that their love has only continued to grow over the decades. Sharing the throwback picture of the happy couple in which they are all smiles, Madhavan wrote on Instagram, “How is it that I am more in love with you now than ever before and I am just getting started. Happy anniversary wifey,” with a bunch of heart and kisses emojis.

Madhavan's social media content is mostly limited to his work, but the actor sometimes drops a post or two to tell us just how much he is in awe of his wife. Last year, amid the second wave of COVID-19, Madhavan shared a bunch of videos on Instagram Stories with the note, “How small I am in front of her.” In the videos, Sarita can be seen teaching children virtually. Giving us context, the actor says in the video: "When your wife teaches poor kids across the country and you feel completely incompetent and useless."

On the other hand, Sarita Birje's Instagram timeline is filled with images of the happy couple. On the occasion of their anniversary on Monday, Sarita shared a collage of two pictures of the couple. While one image is a throwback photo, the other is a more recent photo. In the caption, she said, “23 years of togetherness. Today, I realized how quickly time flies. I love you so much. Happy wedding anniversary, my love.”
Replying to the post, Madhavan said, “How can it be that I am more crazy about you than ever before and I am just getting started too.” To this, Sarita replied with heart emojis.
Dia Mirza, Madhavan's Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein co-star said, “Happy Anniversary beautiful people.” Actor Rohit Bose Roy said, “Happy anniversary Saru and Maddy. Our 23rd coming up in a couple of weeks. Gosh.”
A week ago, on Madhavan's birthday, Sarita even shared a sweet birthday note on Instagram and said, “Wishing a very happy birthday to the most handsome husband in the world. May this year bring you all the success that you deserve. Love you loads my Pursha.”

Madhavan and Sarita Birje have one son named Vedaant. Vedaant is an international level swimmer who won his first gold at the Danish Open in April 2022.
