'Sardar', 'Ori Devuda' attract audience despite Kantara challenge

The pre-Diwali releases are now three-days-old and it is safe to talk about their relative box-office performance. The Karthi-starrer 'Sardar' and the Vishwak Sen-starrer 'Ori Devudu' are relative winners despite the clout enjoyed by Rishab Shetty's 'Kantara' at the Telugu box office.

In the Telugu States, Karthi's spy action thriller is doing better than 'Ori Devuda', which is a remake. Sen's movie, directed by Ashwath Marimathu, would have scored much better had it not been for the heavy competition. For Karthi, 'Sardar' is proof that he enjoys goodwill among the Telugu audience.

'Prince' had little chance, if any, of becoming a hit. Its trailer was unexciting and the casting is skewed towards engaging the Kollywood audience. Its brand of humour is also not for everyone. Many are finding the jokes lame, while those who are enjoying it are enjoying it.

Manchu Vishnu has pulled off yet another dud on the back of Ginna's outdated content. The film's poor numbers are evidence that some ideas should never be repeated. They should be junked for good.
