Esha Deol skipped nephew Karan's wedding to Drisha Acharya last weekend but posted an Instagram Story congratulating the newlyweds. Esha kept her note short and sweet, writing: "Congratulations Karan and Drisha. Wishing you both a lifetime of togetherness and happiness. Lots of love." Esha and her sister Ahana, daughters of Dharmendra and his second wife Hema Malini, did not attend the big fat Deol wedding and reception despite being reportedly invited by Sunny Deol, the groom's father and son of Dharmendra and his first wife Prakash Kaur. The two halves of Dharmendra's family have reportedly always kept each other at arm's length and since there was no question of Hema Malini attending Karan Deol's wedding festivities, her daughters didn't either.

Dharmendra and Hema Malini, co-stars of films like Sholay and Seeta Aur Geeta, married in 1980 even though he was still married to Prakash Kaur. Dharmendra already had four children with his first wife – sons Sunny and Bobby, and daughters Vijeta and Ajeeta.
Esha Deol followed her parents and brothers into Bollywood with moderate success, making her debut in 2002 film Koi Mere Dil Se Poochhe. Her film credits include Dhoom, Yuva, LOC Kargil, Dus and Kaal. She currently stars in the web-series Hunter with Suniel Shetty. Esha married Bharat Takhtani in 2012 and the couple have two daughters.
