New Delhi:

Esha Deol, who is often seen treating her social media fans to throwback gems featuring her dad Dharmendra, made some shocking revelations about him. In a recent interview with ETimes, she revealed that the 87-year-old actor was protective of her and hence did not want her to step foot in Bollywood. Elaborating on how the Sholay actor was not keen on her joining the film industry, Esha told ETimes, "It comes from him being an orthodox Punjabi male; they are known to be very protective of the women in their families. This is sort of a way of showing how protective he is and nothing else. Time takes its course, and everything falls into place eventually."

Esha Deol also acknowledged the role of women in her life and how they contributed to her decision to becoming financially independent at a young age. "I grew up in a household filled with a lot of women power — from my grandmother, aunt, cousins, and mom. A lot of women around us are very strong-headed and work-oriented. That's the atmosphere I grew up in, so, automatically the fact that at 18, I chose to start working and being financially independent comes a lot from there," the Kaal actress was quoted as saying.

Esha Deol's revelations concerning her father come a few days after she shared a throwback picture of herself and him from her childhood. The caption alongside the adorable picture read, "Never understood why I couldn't keep a straight face as a kid in photos. I guess that explains the Nautanki in me. With my darling papa at one of his outdoor shoots back in the 80s."

Meanwhile, the Deol family dynamics have been hogging all the limelight ever since Sunny Deol's son Karan got married in June to his long-term girlfriend. The absence of Dharmendra's second wife Hema Malini along with her daughters did not go unnoticed either.

A few days after the wedding, Dharmendra shared a cryptic post dedicated to his wife and daughters. It read, "Esha, Ahana, Hema and all my darling kids ...loving Takhtani's and Vohra's l love you and respect you all from the core of my heart...age and illness is telling upon me I could have spoken personally to you...but..." The veteran actor did not specify what he was talking about. Take a look at Dharmendra's post:

Esha Deol also responded to her father's message. Esha picked an image from her wedding album featuring herself, her husband Bharat Takhtani, Hema Malini and Dharmendra. In the caption, the actress wrote, "Love you, papa. You are the best. Love you unconditionally and you know that. Cheer up and always be happy and healthy. Love you."
