On Alia Bhatt's big day, the actress shared a video that's both a birthday gift to herself and a present for fans - the first look of her character Isha from Brahmastra in what is the first footage we are seeing from the long-awaited film. "Happy birthday to me," wrote Alia Bhatt, "Can't think of a better day and better way for you all to meet Isha." Alia, 29 today, added this shout-out for Brahmastra director Ayan Mukerji: "Ayan my wonder boy, I love you." The clip, titled "Happy birthday, Isha," features a montage of Alia Bhatt's moments from the movie. The film itself is the first in a mythology-based trilogy and is subtitled Part One: Shiva - Shiva is played by Alia's real life boyfriend Ranbir Kapoor.
Ranbir is not on social media but Ayan Mukerji is. He also posted the clip introducing Alia Bhatt as Isha, writing: "Happy birthday, Little One. For all the joy, the pride, the inspiration and the magic that you make me feel...here's something to celebrate you on your special day. Our Isha, the Shakti of Brahmastra, in the first visuals we are releasing from our movie. Love. Light. Fire. Go!"

Brahmastra co-stars Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna and Mouni Roy, and releases on September 9.
Brahmastra will cap something of an annus mirabilis for Alia Bhatt. She received rave reviews for her performance in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Gangubai Kathiawadi which has made over Rs 100 crore. Alia also has another big release coming up at the end of this month in the SS Rajamouli-directed RRR, co-starring Jr NTR and Ram Charan.
