New Delhi:

Amid Gadar 2 wave, filmmaker Karan Johar expressed his joy about the film's marvellous performance at the box office. Sunny Deol's sequel to the 2001 film Gadar has created ripples at the box office. Addressing Gadar 2 's power packed performance at the box office, filmmaker Karan Johar said at the Express Adda event in Mumbai, conducted by The Indian Express, "Gadar has blown everyone's brains away because it was a film which was hugely successful in 2001, and now in 2023, it is breaking every record. I have been so glad for the single screens."

Just before Gadar 2, Karan Johar's directorial Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani released in theatres and it minted a handsome amount of money at the box office too. After back-to-back flops at the box office last year, a section of the audience has been targeting Bollywood. The dull phase was first broken by Shah Rukh Khan's Pathaan at the beginning of this year. Speaking about people targeting Bollywood and Hindi filmmakers, Karan Johar said at the event, "I never thought there was any problem with what Bollywood was doing. We have had bad years in the past, and we were having another one or two bad years. It doesn't mean, "Boycott Bollywood", "They are dead", "The South is taking over". South is great. What they are doing is amazing."

Meanwhile, Gadar 2 is on its way to cross the 400 crore mark at the domestic box office. After Monday, the movie has already broken the lifetime business record of Aamir Khan's Dangal. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, "CROSSES 'DANGAL', NEXT 'KGF 2'... #Gadar2 remains an UNSTOPPABLE FORCE, refuses to slow down on [second] Mon... Crosses *lifetime biz* of #Dangal... Is now FOURTH HIGHEST GROSSING #Hindi film in #India... [Week 2] Fri 20.50 cr, Sat 31.07 cr, Sun 38.90 cr, Mon 13.50 cr. Total: ₹ 388.60 cr. #India biz. #Boxoffice."

It is clashing with Akshay Kumar's OMG 2 at the box office.
