Chum Darang stepped into Bollywood with Rajkummar Rao and Bhumi Pednekar's Badhaai Do. She played the role of Bhumi's girlfriend in the film. In an interview with ETimes, Chum Darang opened up about playing the role of an LGBTQ+ character and said, “The character that I am playing, she is such a fun girl and the tag of playing Bhumi's love interest did not really bother me. It was a challenge to play a role like that but I had no inhibitions. I listened to my director and understood what the team wanted.”

Chum Darang also featured in a supporting role alongside Alia Bhatt in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Gangubai Kathiawadi.
