'Adipurush', starring Prabhas and Kriti Sanon, will head to theatres not this year but in 2023. On Tuesday, marking Maha Shiva Ratri, producers Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Om Raut, Prasad Sutar and Rajesh Nair announced its new release date.

The multi-lingual film, based on the Ramayana, will head to theatres on January 12, 2023. This is the first pan-India film to confirm its release for Sankranthi next year.

'Adipurush', directed by Om Raut, was shot in 3D last year. Its post-production works will be completed at least 6 months before the theatrical release. So, the makers will be left with plenty of time to roll out elaborate promotions and receive feedback from alpha and beta viewers.

Starring Saif Ali Khan as Ravana, 'Adipurush' is inspired by the Indo-Japanese crossover film 'The Prince Of Light' (1992).
