Ragi can be your new BFF for healthy skin and hair care routine; Here’s how

With a vast array of key nutrients like vitamin C, vitamin E, B-complex vitamins, iron, calcium, antioxidants, proteins and what not, Ragi is no doubt an essential element for skin and hair health. It has excellent anti-ageing properties that also protects the skin and hair from the damage caused by the sun and other environmental pollutants. Making ragi seeds as a part of your daily skin and hair care routine can work wonders just like a magic wand. Consistent care and the right amount of treatment can make anyone look like a diva. As a matter of fact, most of us are born with flawless skin, but ignorance and lack of care have detrimental effects on one's skin. But nature has got all the solutions to your worries and ragi is one of them.

Ragi face scrub

Mix the tiny ragi seeds with an equal amount of curd. Apply this mixture to your face and rinse off after 15 to 25 minutes. You can use this scrub on your feet and as a before-bath body scrub too. The scrub exfoliates and rejuvenates the skin. It cleans and nourishes the skin and the curd also helps in tan removal. Since ragi is rich in amino acids it helps in the formation of collagen protein that aids in skin elasticity providing you with youthful glowing skin.

Ragi face mask

The ragi seeds can be mixed well into a powdered format to achieve ragi flour which can be blended with milk and a few drops of rosewater to make a thin paste. Apply the paste to your face and don’t forget the neck region. The phenolic acid and flavonoids present in them remove fine lines, reduce the appearance of wrinkles, tightens the pores and improves acne-prone skin. It makes the skin soft and supple.

The amino acids and carotenoids and innumerable anti-microbial characteristics present in ragi make it an ideal solution for hair fall, balding and dandruff. Make a thin paste of powdered ragi and hibiscus water and add powdered amala if required. Massage it on to your scalp to get rid of dandruff and wash it off thoroughly after 5 minutes. This can be done once in two weeks to reap the benefits and grow lustrous long hair.
